Our active Social Committee with the support of the Board of Directors
plans a variety of fun and interesting activities for the neighborhood throughout the year.
These events are a great way to get to know your neighbors, and are why we’re known as such a friendly community.
There are activities for children of all ages, and adults, too.
A message from John Bourne, the Chair of the Social Committee:
I love brainstorming and getting ideas from our community of world travelers,
so if there is an event you think that our families would enjoy,
please feel free to contact me at email@example.com (put “Social Committee” in the subject line)
NOTE: Running with the bulls… NOT going to happen, lol lol.
Christmas/Holiday Decorating Contest Winners:
Drum Roll Please…
This year’s Christmas/Holiday Decorating winner is:
20660 SW 91st Court “Christmas Wonderland.”
This family will receive a $50 Gift Card and a Sign in their Yard.
Honorable Mentions go to:
8850 SW 204th Street “Happy Christmas”
(this home had inflatables during judging;
unfortunately, likely due to the weather we had, they were no longer there when we went to photograph it)
20705 SW 89th Avenue “Tropical Christmas.”
Honorable Mentions will each receive a $25 Gift Card.
Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who decorated and made Cantamar so festive during the holidays!
We had a Great Visit from Santa!
Santa visited Cantamar Sunday afternoon, December 16th.
It was a wonderful afternoon with cookies and hot chocolate,
and kids throwing the football and frisbee.
There was even a slight breeze to keep Santa a little cooler.
We collected a variety of toys for the Cutler Bay Police Toy Drive
to help make this a great Christmas for children
who may not otherwise receive gifts.
Thanks to all who donated!
Congratulations to our Turkey Raffle Winner!
Congratulations to Lisa Cardali, the winner of this year’s Turkey Raffle!
Wishing Lisa, and all our residents, a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Another Spectacular Halloween Party!
Our new Butler figure greeted all the witches and goblins (and princesses and pirates)
at this year’s Halloween Party by lighting up and talking as they approached.
And the weather cooperated for a pleasant evening—not too hot.
We had great participation in our Apple Bobbing and Costume Contests.
Congratulations to the winners: Nathan and Michael in the Apple Bobbing Contests;
Arabella for the Under Age 5 Costume Contest and Jada in the Over Age 5 category.
Thanks to Comcast for providing the pizza,
and to our Social Committee for all their hard work putting this popular event together
and providing popcorn, cotton candy, and the goody bags of candy for the kids…
and of course, to all of our neighbors who came out in costume (and not) to enjoy this wonderful evening!
Many Thanks to our Board and Volunteers
for the Independence Day Flags
Didn’t Cantamar look wonderfully patriotic for the Fourth of July!
Many thanks to our Board of Directors and the Volunteers
who placed the flags throughout the neighborhood.
Also, many thanks to our patriotic neighbors who flew the flag
and/or added small flags to their flower beds.
It really looked wonderful!
Annual Landscape Contest Winners
Congratulations to the Winner of our 2018 Landscape Contest: 8753 SW 206th Lane.
This winner will receive a $50 Gift Card and a Certificate.
Congratulations also go to our Honorable Mention: 8995 SW 207th Street.
The Board of Directors would also like to recognize previous winners
who have kept their landscapes in beautiful condition:
20515 SW 89th Avenue, 20631 SW 87th Court, 8754 SW 206th Lane, 8830 SW 204th Street,
20642 SW 90th Place, and 8984 SW 206th Street.
St. Patrick’s Day Meet & Greet
On March 10th there was wonderful weather for our outdoor St. Patrick’s Day party at the Sandbar Sports Grill.
We had a great turnout, saw a lot of wearin’ o’ the green, and met many of our neighbors!
Cantamar provided some delicious appetizers: chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, tortillas, chips and sauces.
Lots of St. Patrick’s Day items were raffled off, allowing many neighbors to continue the festivities at home.
Cantamar Softball Team Update
Our Cantamar Softball Team made it to the Spring 2017 finals,
but unfortunately lost the Championship Game 27-25.
The Fall season started up in mid-August.
Here’s to a successful season and another championship!
